From Scarcity to Abundance
An interview with Vineet Saraiwala (IIMB, 2015). Founder of Atypical Advantage.
On 8th April, 2022, we interviewed Vineet Saraiwala. Vineet is a graduate of IIM-Bangalore (2015 batch). In this interview, he shares that he initially was a bit let down when he secured a placement at Future Group, and not a “Day Zero” company. But now as he looks back, that might have been the best thing to happen. After an impactful time there, in 2020, he finally surrendered to his inner call and started Atypical Advantage, a unique platform for generating livelihoods for people with disabilities. A platform based on the idea that *everybody* is good at something. What is only needed, is to look with eyes of empathy and compassion, to be able to see and amplify that goodness in others. Not as much a leader’s job, but perhaps that of a “ladder”.
If you see Vineet from other end of the room, you might not be able to make out that this guy working with astonishing speed on his computer actually suffers from a rare condition of the eyes called Retinitis Pigmentosa. As a result, his eyesight has been progressively declining with age, with currently only 10% of his vision remaining. In this talk, he candidly shares about his journey of moving from a victim mindset, to discovering the power of gratitude and service.
Very grateful to Vineet, for sharing his journey with us, with lot of authenticity and joyfulness. Here is two-hour recording, intended to not just be a conversation, but a multi-dimensional immersion - with moments of silence, soulful music, Q&A and even few friends adding to the dialogue. Hope it adds some insights to your journey and smiles to your day!
And for those who like to like to take it small chunks (reminds me of the monthly house EMIs that Vineet was saying was a big concern for him in listening to his heart), click the image below to see a fun curation of twenty short clips from the call.
Big shoutout to Vineet, Geetika, Abhishek and Sharva for helping co-create this conversation.
