What's Greater Than Your Resume?
Sums it up so well in just one sentence: "The value of your human life will always be more than the sum of your resume." (Read in a graduation speech delivered by Nipun Mehta, Make Virtue Viral)
The problem is, most of us aren't in touch with that simple knowledge. We see ourselves as sum of our resume. And sadly, in the same vein, we see others as the sum of their resume. If we would see the inherent preciousness and sacredness of life -- our own and of others, kindness and seva wouldn't feel like a once every alternate Sunday 2-hour activity (which I used to do earlier). But it will be the most obvious and normal (and beautiful) way to live your life.
Treat everyone as divine. Give/love unconditionally. Recognize that the same divinity flows through you. Receive gracefully. Do not keep a track, do not try to balance your ledgers. When we are in touch with our intrinsic value, we don't get overly caught up in small things - like money, what that guy said to me that hurt my ego, what will they think of me, and so on. :)
So if we just start a practice of trying to see and empathize with each human as a human first (and not as our customers whose LTV we need to maximize), over time, it can dramatically transform our own lives. :)
